Sugarfire “Westy” to Open in Colorado

St. Louis-based fast-casual barbecue concept Sugarfire Smoke House will open its 11th location in Colorado. Co-founder and chef Mike Johnson is partnering with Colorado natives Chad and Jamie Green to open a restaurant in Westminster, Colorado. The Greens will be majority owners and operators of the 4,000-square-foot restaurant, located at 14375 Orchard Parkway. Construction on the restaurant, named “Sugarfire Westy,” is expected to begin in March with an opening scheduled for the summer.

Switching Things Up

Unlike other Sugarfire locations, the Colorado restaurant will feature a full-service bar and is planning to offer weekly chef-driven drink specials, according to a release. The restaurant will provide counter-service, with about 90 seats inside and an another 50 seats on an outside patio. Sugarfire announced plans in 2017 to open locations in Cape Girardeau and Indianapolis later this year. The barbecue concept also has locations in Olivette, St. Charles, Valley Park, O’Fallon, Missouri, Washington, Missouri, downtown St. Louis and Farmington, Missouri.

The Sugarfire restaurants brought in about $20 million in revenue in 2015, according to a previous Business Journal report. According to Technomic, fast-casual industry sales were expected to jump 10 percent in 2017 to $52 billion.
